BEIJING, May 9 (Xinhua) -- The movie-streaming mobile app Smart Cinema will further promote Chinese movies around the world as it will expand its business to the United States, Canada, Latin America and other regions this year, according to a plan released Thursday.
Once fulfilled, the plan will have Chinese films screened overseas in five continents while increasing the overseas sales of the films.
The platform will continue its cooperation with Huawei to launch in Latin America, the Middle East, North Africa and other regions of Europe after its release in Italy and Spain in November 2018, which covered over 500,000 overseas Chinese, said Jack Gao, CEO of Smart Cinema.
It also signed agreements Thursday with partners in the Republic of Korea, as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to screen more Chinese movies in those areas.
Meanwhile, the app has established a joint venture with Well Go USA Entertainment in North America for business expansion.
The plan will not only help Chinese movies reach more parts of the world but also connect the relatively dispersed Chinese film audience abroad through the mobile platform, said Yin Hong, vice chairman of the China Film Association.
