CARACAS, May 9 (Xinhua) -- More Venezuelan children "are at risk" due to the sanctions of the U.S. government, said executive secretary of the Venezuela's National Council of Human Rightson Thursday.

"We continue to denounce the effects of the blockade on the people," Larry Devoe wrote on his Twitter account.

Mentioning that an 18-month girl Isabella is in Argentina for a liver transplant recovery, Devoe said the U.S. blockade "prevents further support for treatment" and puts the child's life at risk.

"Like Isabella, another five children and adolescents, who are being treated for liver problems, are currently at risk as a result of the actions of the (U.S. President) Donald Trump's government," he wrote.

In the past week, Devoe denounced similar situations of Venezuelan patients who had been supported under agreements signed by the state-owned oil company PDVSA.

Earlier, Washington announced it would sanction 34 freighters of the PDVSA and transport companies "to affect the shipment of oil to the sister Republic of Cuba."
