ATHENS, May 11 (Xinhua) -- China has made enormous and impressive progress in the past 70 years, Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos has said.
Pavlopoulos will pay a state visit to China from May 12 to 16, during which he will also attend the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations in Beijing.
As this year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Pavlopoulos told Xinhua ahead of his visit that "the development of China over these years is something that has impressed the whole world."
"The way of development China has chosen is based on its own principles, its own values, its own way of seeing the economy," he said.
The president said that he was particularly impressed by China's development in e-government, especially with regard to public administration.
E-government refers to the use of electronic communication devices and the Internet to provide public services to citizens in a country or region.
"I really admire the enormous progress made by China in the field of e-government, which is very important (not only) for the course and the relations between the state and the citizens, but also for the economy itself," he said.
The president said he believes China, a "great country," will further develop and prosper in the future.
