PARIS, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Lille all but secured their runners-up position and qualification into next season's Champions League group stage with a 1-0 home win over Bordeaux, while Guingamp were relegated from Ligue 1 after drawing 1-1 away to Rennes in the 36th round on Sunday.

Loic Remy scored the winner for Lille by volleying home on Jonathan Ikone's free-kick in the 27th minute.

Bordeaux defender Pablo was sent off late on for bringing down Nicolas Pepe who was already clean through.

Lille failed to completely punch the ticket to Champions League group stage as third-ranked Lyon also triumphed 3-0 at Marseille in a later match.

Maxwel Cornet made no mistake from close range to move Lyon ahead on 24 minutes.

Marseille wasted a series of chances of leveling the score shortly after the break, only to see their defender Duje Caleta-Car shown a red card for a foul on Martin Terrier in the 67th minute.

That turned out to be decisive in Marseille's one-sided loss. Substitute striker Moussa Dembele and Cornet scored a pair of goals in two minutes to put Lyon's victory to bed.

Lille maintain their six-point lead over Lyon and better by 14 goals in goal difference, having effectively earned direct entry into Champions League group stage with two rounds remaining.

Lyon, on the other hand, extend their advantage over fourth-placed Saint-Etienne to four points in contention for Champions League qualifying round spot. Trailing Saint-Etienne by seven points, Marseille have missed out the chance of participating in European competitions next term.

Ismaila Sarr latched onto M'Baye Niang's header to earn Rennes a 1-0 lead with a lob around the quarter-hour mark.

Rennes were reduced to 10 men with 11 minutes remaining as Gerzino Nyamsi was booked a second yellow card.

Guingamp found an equalizer in the 87th minute through Alexandre Mendy's smash, before somewhat seeing hope of staying in Ligue 1 when they were awarded a penalty afterwards. However, Marcus Thuram had a last-gasp penalty saved by goalkeeper Tomas Koubek and his followed-in header just went wide from the post.

The rock bottom side Guingamp cannot erase a seven-point deficit from 18th-ranked Caen at the relegation playoff position, bringing an end to their six-season stay in the top-flight league.
