DUBAI, May 16 (Xinhua) -- A small plane carrying four people crashed on Thursday near the Dubai International Airport, killing the pilot and his assistant, the Dubai government said.
The small plane crashed because of a technical malfunction, Dubai Media Office tweeted.
All operations at the airport are running smoothly despite a slight delay and diversion of some flights as a precautionary measure to ensure security following the accident, it added.
The Dubai International Airport is one of the world's busiest airports in relation to international travellers, as more than 80 percent of passengers do not enter the United Arab Emirates but use the airport as a transition hub. Enditem
