KINSHASA, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) President Felix Tshisekedi on Monday appointed Sylvestre Ilunga as the country's new prime minister.
Ilunga, a university professor and former finance minister, is currently director-general of the National Railway Company of Congo (SNCC) in the province of Haut-Katanga, known earlier as Great Katanga.
Renowned as a man of experience in public service, the 78-year-old Ilunga served as presidential adviser under the Mobutu Sese Seko and Joseph Kabila governments.
Ilunga replaces Bruno Tshibala, who resigned earlier on Monday.
