DAMASCUS, May 22 (Xinhua) -- At least 10 people were wounded on Wednesday when an explosion rocked an area controlled by the Turkey-backed rebels in the northern countryside of Aleppo province in northern Syria, a war monitor reported.

The explosion was caused by a booby-trapped motorcycle that went off in the city of Jarablus, which is controlled by Turkey-backed rebels near the Syria-Turkish border, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The UK-based watchdog group said that on May 20, another explosion rocked the outskirts of the Azaz city in northern Aleppo, killing a rebel commander instantly.

This comes amid a state of lawlessness and violence in areas controlled by the Turkey-backed rebels in northern Syria, as explosive devices and assassinations have become a daily occurrence, according to the Observatory.
