DAMASCUS, May 22 (Xinhua) -- More than 20,000 Syrian refugees have returned from Jordan since October of 2018, state news agency SANA reported Wednesday.
The return of refugees started when the Nasib border crossing between the two countries was re-opened in October of 2018, said SANA.
Earlier in the day, another batch of refugees returned to Syria from the Zarqa camp in Jordan.
The report pointed to the efforts the Syrian government is exerting to secure the return of refugees and displaced people after the army captured large swathes of territories from the rebels.
Mazen Ghandour, head of the Immigration Center in Nasib, said Syria is ready to secure buses and cars to transport refugees as well as on-spot medical treatment and checkup.
It is estimated that Jordan is hosting 1.4 million Syrian refugees.
