SINGAPORE, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.7 percent, or 22.42 points, to close at 3,160.72.
A total of 989.19 million shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.00 billion Singapore dollars (723.79 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 292 to 138.
The STI index went down or 0.12 points, to close at 3,183.14 Wednesday. Enditem
