Head coach of Yanbian Beiguo to miss matches due to heart attack

CHANGCHUN, China, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Head coach of Chinese football club Yanbian Beiguo, Serbian Nebojsa Maksimovic, suffered a heart attack last week and will be absent from the pitch during his recovery.

During his absence, assistant coach Jin Qing will temporarily assume coaching responsibilities, the club announced today.

"Head coach Nebojsa Maksimovic had an acute myocardial infarction last week after the match against Shenyang Urban. He is now out of danger. However, the recovery will take some time, and thus Mr. Maksimovic can not continue to work with the team as the head coach," the announcement said.

"The board of directors of Yanbian Beiguo Football Club adopted a resolution to appoint assistant coach Jin Qing to temporarily assume the responsibilities of head coach. The club hopes that Jin Qing will lead the team well, and wishes Mr.Maksimovic a speedy recovery."

The 54-year-old Serbian previously played for Fk Crvena Zvezda and began his coaching career in 2003. He officially took the job as the head coach of Yanbian Beiguo on March 1 of this year.
