MEXICO CITY, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Mexico winger Hirving Lozano has been ruled out of the CONCACAF Gold Cup because of a knee injury, the country's football federation (Femexfut) said on Monday.
Lozano, who has been capped 35 times for his country, has been sidelined since suffering a medial ligament tear while playing for Dutch club PSV Eindhoven in April. Femexfut did not immediately name a replacement for the 23-year-old.
"After a full evaluation it was determined that he needs more time to be 100 percent," Femexfut said in a statement.
The Gold Cup will be played in the United States, Costa Rica and Jamaica from June 15 to July 7.
Tournament favorites Mexico have been drawn in Group A alongside Canada, Martinique and Cuba.
