NAIROBI, May 28 (Xinhua) -- African 800m silver medalist Emmanuel Korir will get a chance to secure revenge against continental champion Nijel Amos of Botswana during their meeting in Rabat on June 16.

The organizers of the Rabat race, the sixth stop on the Diamond League circuit and the only leg staged in Africa, have confirmed several leading names for the men's 800m race.

Korir, Jonathan Kitilit and Ferguson Cheruiyot Rotich will be out to restore Kenya's dominance, but will have to outdo rivals including Amos and Clayton Murphy from the U.S..

"I have high hopes of doing well because my training has been very good," said Rotich on Tuesday in Nairobi. "It is one of the races that I would like to win because it is the only one staged in Africa."

25-year-old Amos, winner of three Diamond League finals and a record holder in the 800m race, will be among the favorites.

He is Botswana's only Olympic medalist and holds a junior world record (1:41.73 at the 2012 Olympics). Amos says he is focused on winning the Diamond League this season.

"Kenyans are always stronger over 800m and it is always a challenge to face them," he said.
