TASHKENT, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan will implement a range of anti-corruption measures to create a favorable business environment and promote the country's image abroad in a bid to attract foreign investors, a presidential decree published on Wednesday said.
The measures adopted within the one-year anti-corruption program starting August this year includes strengthening independence of the judiciary system, implementing the practice of income declaration by public servants as well as increasing accountability and transparency of the activities of state bodies.
The decree also said that civil society institutions and the mass media will be given "true freedom" to monitor implementation of the anti-corruption measures.
According to the program, the Uzbek government will implement an experimental project in the construction and education sectors involving foreign experts.
Similar projects will also be implemented in other economic and social sectors from April 2020, the document said.
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has been carrying out a range of economic reforms to make the Central Asian country attractive to foreign investors and encourage domestic producers to boost export since he came to power following the presidential elections in 2016.
