NEW DELHI, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Elaborate arrangements are being made in New Delhi for the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi at the forecourts of "Rashtrapati Bhawan" (President House) on Thursday.
This would be Modi's second consecutive term as the country's head of government.
According to official sources, more than 6,000 guests are expected to attend the ceremony, including leaders from the member nations of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), namely Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal and Bhutan.
The list of guests also include all prominent opposition leaders in the country, including the Indian National Congress (INC) President Rahul Gandhi and former INC president Sonia Gandhi.
Besides, heads of the government of all the states, governors of all the states, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, members of both the Houses of Parliament and senior BJP functionaries in states are also expected to attend the ceremony.
Former Prime Ministers Manmohan Singh and H.D. Dewe Gowda, and former Presidents Pranab Mukherjee and Pratibha Patil have also been sent invitations for the event, confirmed the official sources.
