AMMAN, May 29 (Xinhua) -- King Abdullah II of Jordan received on Wednesday visiting Jared Kushner, senior adviser to the U.S. president.
The meeting covered the latest regional developments, especially efforts to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, according to a brief statement from the Royal Court.
The king stressed the need to step up all efforts to achieve comprehensive and lasting peace on the basis of the two-state solution, guaranteeing the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, living side by side with Israel in peace and security, in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions.
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Adviser for Communication and Coordination Bisher Khasawneh and other Jordanian officials met with Kushner and the accompanying U.S. delegation.
The U.S. officials are in Jordan as part of a visit to the region.
