TOKYO, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Thursday following a weak lead from Wall Street overnight, with investors switching out of riskier assets and into safer havens amid continued concerns over global economic growth.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 60.84 points, or 0.29 percent, from Wednesday to close the day at 20,942.53.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 4.43 points, or 0.29 percent, to finish at 1,531.98.
Pulp and paper, pharmaceutical and service-oriented issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play.
