TASHKENT, May 30 (Xinhua) -- A special flight has brought 156 Uzbek citizens, mostly women and children, back from the zone of armed conflicts in the Middle East, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
The Uzbek government will provide these people who were returned on Thursday with medical, psychological and material assistance, as well as adequate housing and employment, the ministry said in a statement.
The humanitarian rescue operation was a result of the joint work of the Uzbek government, several foreign states, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the United Nations Children's Fund, according to the ministry.
