WELLINGTON, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Large wind gusts caused temporary power outages to about 9,000 homes in New Zealand's largest city Auckland on Saturday.
By 8 p.m. local time power returned to most homes, according to Vector, a local power operator, which said they would remain vigilant as strong winds would last until night.
According to MetService, a cold front moves across New Zealand from the south, bringing strong southwesterlies.
Temperatures will go below zero in the southern parts of the South Island during Saturday night.
