JAKARTA, June 9 (Xinhua) -- One villager was killed and more than 2,000 others have been taking shelters at higher grounds after floods and landslides hit West Kalimantan province of central Indonesia since Friday, a disaster agency official said on Sunday.
Days of torrential rains since Friday are blamed for the natural disasters in Mandor sub-district of Landak district, head of the operational unit of disaster management agency Banda Kolaga said.
The affected villagers are taking shelters or living with their relatives who have not affected by the floodwater, he said.
Emergency rescue is underway, including distribution of logistics, medicine and other daily needs to the flood-affected people, Kolaga said.
