VITROLLES, France, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Mexico U-22 beat China's Olympic team 1-0 in their last Group C match of Toulon Tournament here on Sunday.
The Chinese team, led by Dutchman Guus Hiddink, came close in the first half from a corner kick but then failed to creat a good chance.
Mexico's Jairo Torres had a shot saved by Chinese keeper Chen Wei. Paolo Yrizar also saw an attempt from close range blocked.
China, which lost to the Mexican U-22 side 3-1 last year, managed to handle most of the offensive attacks from Mexico to keep it 0-0 after the first half.
Mexico dominated the second half and went ahead in the 60th minute thanks to a goal from Yrizar.
They should have doubled the lead as Alan Mozo broke clear but his cross couldn't find a free man.
Mexico reached the semifinals along with Ireland, Japan and Brazil. They will next take on Japan and the U-18 Portuguese side play Brazil in the other semifinal.
China will play for the seventh position against Chile.
