BEIJING, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Nearly 480,000 traffic police officers were dispatched to ensure safe and smooth traffic in China during the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the Ministry of Public Security has said.
Over 90,000 police vehicles, more than 4,000 traffic police stations and over 12,000 provisional sentries handled more than 580,000 serious traffic violations across the country, keeping the traffic in good order with no major road traffic accidents reported, according to the ministry.
This year's holiday coincided with the national college entrance examination. Traffic police authorities across the country provided guide and escort services for exam candidates, helping over 4,000 students with emergencies make it to the test centers on time, said the ministry.
