CHILILABOMBWE, June 11 (Xinhua) -- President of Chililabombwe Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Zambia said on Tuesday African countries should send technocrats to China to learn more from Chinese on their long term economic planning.
Currently Zambia and other southern Africa countries have power deficit, it is important that the Asian country can come in to set up hydro power facilities, Nelson Musonda said.
Some Chililabombwe residents said China is committed to working with Africa in strengthening trade and economic development.
Jack Mwelwa said since 1970s, China has been a good friend of Zambia and this can be seen in the Tanzania-Zambia Railway (TAZARA) built to open up Zambia's trade to the sea coast in Tanzania.
"Since the construction of TAZARA over 40 years ago China still stands with Zambia through infrastructure development," he said.
Fred Matipa said he is optimistic that Zambia will benefit a lot from China through various economic forums.
