ULAN BATOR, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia has opened its embassy in Kyrgyzstan, in a move set to strengthen bilateral ties, the Mongolian presidential press office announced Thursday.
Mongolian President Khaltmaa Battulga who is on an official visit to Kyrgyzstan on Wednesday inaugurated the embassy in the country's capital Bishkek, the press office said.
"Today, we all witnessed a historic event in Mongolia-Kyrgyzstan relations. I would like to say that the opening of the embassy as part of the official visit proves our country attaches great importance to relations with Kyrgyzstan," Battulga said at the ceremony.
Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan have great potential to develop their cooperation in a wide range of areas, Battulga said.
The two Asian countries established diplomatic relations in April 1992. Mongolia opened a consulate general in Bishkek in 2014.
