YANGON, June 16 (Xinhua ) -- Myanmar and two international media institutes have extended a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on media cooperation for another one year until March 2020, according to the country's Ministry of Information on Sunday.
The MoU for the extension was signed in Yangon Saturday between the Information and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Information, the International Media Support (IMS) based in Copenhagen, Denmark and Fojo Media Institute based in Kalmar, Sweden.
Under the extended MoU, implementation would be carried out to convene media development conference, ethnic media conference and meeting of four pillars -- judiciary, executive, legislature and media.
Moreover, plans are underway to conduct multi-media training classes in cooperation with international organizations as well as conducting the pilot projects for radio program in some villages of southwestern Ayeyawaddy region and northwestern Chin state.
The aim of the MoU, first signed in 2013, was to draw laws and policies in line with international standard to help the media personnel work professionally, to provide access of information to men and women based on social media and to help them participate in public forum.
