YANGON, June 16 (Xinhua ) -- Myanmar authorities have seized a truck, loaded with illegally harvested timbers, in Yangon's northern district, arresting the driver, police said on Sunday.
The seizure of the six-wheeled truck with smuggled timbers was made following a chase in Hlegu township on Friday and was caught at a toll gate by the police.
The police found 124 pieces of illegal timbers, weighing 7.154 tons in the truck which were confiscated.
The authorities is taking action against the truck driver and those connected with the case under the Forest Law.
Myanmar police seized 10.26 tons of 107 pieces of illegally harvested hardwood timbers on a 10-wheeled truck in Magway region's Saw township in June when a combined team of local administration conducted security measures.
