ANKARA, June 19 (Xinhua) -- At least four people were killed and three others injured on Tuesday in flash floods in Turkey's northeastern province of Trabzon, the Interior Ministry said Wednesday.
The ministry said two streams overflowed after heavy rainfall and floods hit Arakli district in the Black Sea region with six people still missing.
Local TV footage showed that landslide occurred following the heavy rainfall in the region and houses and cars were destroyed. A local school building was damaged seriously.
The search and rescue teams of 280 people are continuing their efforts to search the missing people.
Turkish Agriculture and Forestry Minister Bekir Pakdemirli told reporter that pipes of a hydroelectric power plant exploded following the floods and landslide.
As heavy rainfall is forecast in the coming days, Ismail Ustaoglu, governor of Trabzon Province, warned locals against the risk of landslide and urged people to stay away from the affected neighborhoods.
