KIEV, June 19 (Xinhua) -- The European Union allocated 29.5 million euros (33 million U.S. dollars) to Ukraine to support tax and customs reforms, UNIAN news agency reported, quoting the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance on Wednesday.
European Union Delegation to Ukraine together with the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance launched the public finance management program for Ukraine (EU4PFM) supporting tax and customs reforms on June 18.
"The component of the public finance management program for Ukraine (EU4PFM), the implementation of which begins today, aims to support tax and customs reforms, as well as develop the public finances managing capacity, particularly in the field of IT and HR," said Egon Veermae, the project team leader during a press conference on occasion of the program's launch.
The program will be implemented with the EU free aid for a total amount of 55.5 million euros (62 million U.S. dollars), according to the Ukrainian government press service.
The money allocated into the program should help Ukraine develop an efficient and fair tax system and customs administration while reducing pressure on the business.
