Serbia, Croatia into Water Polo World League Super Cup final

BELGRADE, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Olympic champion Serbia and world champion Croatia became the two finalists of the FINA Water Polo World League Super Finals after they won in Saturday's semifinals at Belgrade's Tasmajdan open-air pool.

In the first semifinal match, Serbia defeated Australia 16-11 (6-2, 3-2, 2-3, 5-4), with Filip Filipovic scoring five goals.

In the second semifinal match, Croatia beat Spain 10-8 (5-1, 3-2, 2-4, 0-1).

The four teams which were eliminated in Friday's quarterfinals, on Saturday fought for placement.

Hungary convincingly beaten Canada 15-8 (4-3, 4-3, 3-1, 4-1), while Japan edged Kazakhstan 13-12 (4-2, 3-2, 3-3, 3-5).

Besides Sunday's final where Serbia meet Croatia, Spain will face Australia in battle for bronze medal, Hungary and Japan will fight for 5th place, while Canada and Kazakhstan will fight for 7th place.

The winner at this super final will get an early ticket for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
