KHARTOUM, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Sudan's Transitional Military Council (TMC) on Sunday called on the Ethiopian and other African mediators to provide a joint initiative under the patronage of the African Union (AU).

"Previously, it has been agreed with us on a unified vision from the Ethiopian and other African mediators," Shams-Eddin Kabashi, the TMC spokesman, said at a press conference in Khartoum.

Kabashi stressed that the TMC would not look into any individual initiatives.

He added that the TMC has not studied the Ethiopian paper, because it was against what it has been agreed to be within a joint paper with the AU.

Kabashi further stressed that Sudan would not respond to pressures as it is a sovereign state.

Mahmud Dirir, the Ethiopian mediator, is leading an initiative proposed by the Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to resolve the political crisis in Sudan, while Mohamed Hacen Lebatt, AU's envoy to Sudan, is leading a similar initiative for the same purpose.

The TMC is tasked with running the country's affairs after the ousting of former President Omar al-Bashir on April 11.
