BEIJING, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Li Gen has joined Shanghai Club after nine year's departure according to Xinjiang Guanghui Basketball Club on June 25.
During the four-year service in Xinjiang, Li Gen played 175 matches and contributed an average of 13.4 points, helping the team yield fruitful results, most notably the team's first ever championship in 2017.
In his moving farewell moment on social media, Li expressed his gratitude to all club members and team fans after navigating through an indelible journey, which said, "We once claimed a trophy of CBA. I even got married and ushered in a 'new chapter'."
Despite all the past glories, aging and injuries become major obstructions while anticipated younger members have started their team training, which may partly result in Li Gen's transfer.
"I must perform better in the homey city of Shanghai." Li said.
