BUDAPEST, June 25 (Xinhua) -- An exhibition of China's best television shows opened here on Tuesday in the framework of the 2019 edition of the National Association of Television Program Executives' (NATPE) international conference.
NATPE is an international organization that hosts annual marketplace, screening and conference events. The venue this year is a hotel on the banks of the Danube River in Budapest, with participants arriving from over 70 countries.
The event kicked off on Tuesday with a forum of international co-production executives and creators focusing on the need to understand the balance between creating shows for regional versus global audiences.
JP Bommel, CEO of NATPE, welcomed the Chinese participants: "We are very honored to have you here and we are thrilled to have China here with us, absolutely thrilled to have them back."
The afternoon's first presentation was held by Hangzhou IX Media. The company's Content Business Representative, Xu Yahan, told Xinhua that she was in Budapest for the first time and was looking forward to doing business not only with Hungarian companies but also with buyers from other countries and continents.
With over 470 buyers (65 percent of them from central and eastern Europe) and 160-odd promotional and production companies in attendance, she will likely find interested partners.
Launched in 2015 and based in Hangzhou, IX Media is one of China's most active independent film and television program distribution companies.
Xiao Ashlee, IX Media's director of global business, said that "Our mission is to introduce Chinese movies and TV programs to the world."
"We would like to help our audience access quality Chinese movies," she said.
