BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Brunei and Singapore pledged to further enhance bilateral defence cooperation during the 7th Defence Policy Dialogue between the two countries on Wednesday.
The dialogue was co-chaired by Brigadier General (Retired) Shahril Anwar, Permanent Secretary of Brunei's Ministry of Defence, and Chan Yeng Kit, Permanent Secretary of (Defence), Ministry of Defence of Singapore.
According to Brunei's Ministry of Defence, the two officials reaffirmed the special and long-standing bilateral defence ties between Brunei and Singapore during the dialogue.
"Besides discussing a wide range of regional and security issues, both co-chairs made affirmation to their commitment to further enhance bilateral defence cooperation."
The dialogue was also attended by military and civilian officials from both sides.
Initiated in 2009, the Defence Policy Dialogue between Brunei and Singapore is aimed at fostering defence cooperation through discussion and information sharing, as well as exploring new areas of practical cooperation.
