LAUSANNE, June 26 (Xinhua) -- The membership of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) expanded to 105 after 10 new members were elected to the body at the 134th IOC session here on Wednesday.
Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC) President Spyros Capralos became the first Greek member of the IOC following his election.
He was joined by Costa Rica's Laura Chinchilla, France's Tidjane Thiam, Algeria's Mustapha Berraf, India's Narinder Batra, Indonesia's Erick Thohir, South Korean Lee Kee Heung, Ntsama Assembe Celestine Odette Epse Engoulou from Cameroon, Matlohang Moiloa-Ramoqopo from Lesotho and Filomena Maria Spencer Africano Fortes from Cape Verde.
Lee, President of the South Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, Batra, head of the Indian Olympic Association, and Berraf, President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa, were elected owning to their respective functions, while the others were elected as individual members.
Meanwhile, Nawal El Moutawakel of Morocco and Jordan's Prince Faisal bin Hussein were elected into the executive board.
Prince Faisal takes the place of Sweden's Gunilla Lindberg while El Moutawakel joins in January after Willi Kaltschmitt of Guatemala reaches the age limit of 80.
