28 people injured as passenger bus falls down precipice in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Twenty eight people were injured when a passenger bus fell down a precipice in Yatiyanthota, about 78 km from Sri Lanka's capital Colombo on Thursday, police said.

The bus had been travelling from Palampitiya, in the Sabaragamuwa Province to Yatiyanthota when the driver lost control of the bus and veered off the road and fell down the 15 meter precipice.

The injured passengers were rushed to a nearby state hospital by residents in the area.

Police have launched investigations into the accident.
