BEIRUT, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Huawei, a Chinese multinational technology company, said Thursday it is ready to help Lebanon provide Beirut's Rafic Hariri International Airport (RHIA) with advanced Wi-Fi technology services, the National News Agency reported.
Representatives from Huawei in Lebanon met with Public Works and Transport Minister Youssef Fenianos in addition to heads of security agencies at the airport to agree on ways of equipping the airport with the latest technologies.
The new airport's technologies aim at providing passengers who travel through the airport with high speed internet services enabling them to access information about their flights and all the services offered at the airport.
Beirut's airport is currently under expansion to be able to receive 10 million passengers who are expected to travel through RHIA by 2020.
In 2018, Lebanese finance ministry approved 18 million U.S. dollars in funding the expansion of the Beirut airport.
