GARDEZ, Afghanistan, June 28 (Xinhua) -- At least six militants affiliated with the Haqqani network have been killed and seven others injured in eastern Paktia province, said a statement released by the provincial administration on Friday.
The security forces, according to the statement, launched cleanup operations in Gardisirai district of the province on Thursday and the government forces have also arrested seven suspected militants with the Haqqani network, a military wing of Taliban operating in the capital city Kabul and eastern provinces.
No security personnel and civilians have been harmed during the ongoing crackdown on militants, the statement said, adding the security forces would continue to chase the armed militants.
Taliban militants have not commented on the official statement.
