PARIS, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Temperatures in France hit 45 degrees Celsius on Friday for the first time since the start of temperature measurements, according to Meteo France.
At 14:59 local time on Friday in Villevieille, a commune in southern France, the temperature was registered at 45.1 degrees Celsius.
In Carpentras in southeastern France, the temperature was recorded at 44.3 degrees Celsius at 13:48 local time, breaking the national record of August 2003.
As the heat wave reaches an exceptional peak of heat on Friday, warned Meteo France, many absolute temperature records might be broken.
