KHARTOUM, June 29 (Xinhua) -- The African Union (AU) mediator to Sudan Mohamed Hacen Lebatt on Saturday urged the Transitional Military Council (TMC) and the opposition Freedom and Change Alliance to exercise the highest degree of self-restraint.

"The two parties must exercise the highest degree of responsibility and self-restraint, and avoid any statement or act that can disturb the suitable climate for reaching a satisfactory deal between the two parties to resolve the Sudanese crisis," said Lebatt at a press conference in Khartoum.

He further noted that the TMC and the opposition alliance are embarked on studying a joint African-Ethiopian proposal for solving the political crisis in the country.

The Sudanese capital Khartoum is expected to witness potential protests on Sunday that were called for by the opposition alliance.
