JAKARTA, July 1 (Xinhua) -- The number of foreign holiday-makers coming into Indonesia rose in the first five months as the government intensively carried out promotion and improvement in facilities.
The national statistics bureau said on Monday that the number of foreign tourists visiting the country from January to May increased 2.7 percent to 6.37 million, year-over-year.
In May, the number of foreign holiday-makers visiting the country also drifted up 1.1 percent to 1.26 million people year-on-year, head of the bureau Kecuk Suhariyanto said.
Malaysia, China, Singapore, Australia and Timor Leste are the most contributive country to the Indonesian foreign tourist arrivals in May with figures of 252,000; 165,074; 136,346; 108,057 and 100,338 respectively, he said.
Indonesia expects to meet a target of 20 million foreign tourist arrivals in 2019, after logging 15.81 million foreign tourists in 2018, according to the Tourism Ministry.
