RABAT, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Military leaders from Morocco on Monday discussed with visiting British Minister of State for the Armed Forces Mark Lancaster ways to strengthen military cooperation.
The talks examined "mutual support, training, the organization of combined exercises, the exchange of information visits and participation in training sessions," said a statement by the General Staff of the Moroccan Armed Forces (FAR).
The British minister, who is on a two-day working visit to Morocco, was received by Inspector General of FAR Abdelfattah Louarak and Minister-Delegate for National Defense Abdellatif Loudiyi.
The officials of the two countries expressed their satisfaction with the positive results of the bilateral military cooperation and the excellent partnership between the two armies, the statement added.
They reiterated their common willingness to further deepen cooperation, "particularly in the field of defense industry," said the statement, adding the cooperation "could be integrated in a mutually beneficial way through sustainable investment and industrial development partnerships."
Moroccan-British military cooperation is governed by a framework agreement signed in 1993 and a status of forces agreement signed in 2013.
According to the statement, joint military commissions are held annually to examine the various aspects of military cooperation between the Armed Forces of the two countries.
