ATHENS, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Greek conservatives lead by a 9.2 margin against the ruling Radical Left SYRIZA party ahead of the July 7 national elections, according to the results of the latest opinion survey released on Monday.
The New Democracy party is set to win with 35.4 percent of votes against 26.2 percent for SYRIZA, indicated the poll conducted by Rass polling firm for local news website in.gr.
The center-left Movement of Change (KINAL-Kinima Allagis) would receive 8.7 percent of votes and the Greek Communist party KKE 6.1 percent, the survey found.
The fifth party to enter the new Greek parliament would most likely be the right-wing Greek Solution (Elliniki Lysi) with 3.4 percent of votes, while ultra- right Golden Dawn (Chryssi Avghi) would marginally enter with 3.2 percent.
Former finance minister Yanis Varoufakis' MeRa 25 would fail to secure the needed three percent threshold to enter the next parliament, said the pollsters.
About 6.6 percent of voters have still not decided which party they will support.
A total of 56.5 percent of respondents said they would prefer to see a strong one-party government holding a clear majority in parliament emerging from the ballot rather than a coalition government.
Greece has been ruled by coalition governments in recent years during the debt crisis. In many cases coalitions collapsed before the expiry of the full four-year term in office, triggering snap elections.
The current government's term would end in October this year, but Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras was forced to go to early national elections following his party's heavy defeat in the European Parliament elections in May and local government elections on June 2.
The opinion poll was conducted in the period June 24-27.
