KAMPALA, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Egypt beat Kenya 90-72 on Monday to win the Zone V AfroBasket women's qualifiers.
Egypt's Reem Awad scored a game high 16 points, while Raneem Elgedawy and Menatalla Awad picked 15 and 13 points respectively.
Kenya's Betty Kananu picked 20 points, while Vilma Achieng had 13.
"We are happy to have played well and won the trophy," Egypt's Menatalla Awad told Xinhua.
Kenya's Achieng said they were disappointed with the loss because they thought they had a good game.
"We did not defend well towards the end," added Achieng.
Egypt will now play in the 2019 Afrobasket Championship slated for Aug. 9-18 in Senegal.
