JAKARTA, July 2 (Xinhua) -- The committee of the 2019 World Motocross Grand Prix has been intensifying preparations for the tournament in the country's South Sumatra province this week, the committee said on Tuesday.
The 2019 World Motocross Grand Prix is slated to be held in the provincial capital of Palembang from July 5 to 7, drawing dozens of world-class crossers including last year's champion Jefrey Herling, the committee said.
One of the major pieces of preperation which badly needs to be completed before July 5 is the construction of the circuit, said Warsito, who is in charge of the task.
The construction of the 1.6 kilometers circuit is taking place in a compound near H.A. Bastari street, Palembang city, according to the committee.
"We have worked for 24 hours for the last two days. Fortunately, the construction is nearly completed," he said in Palembang.
Over 100 of workers are being involved in the construction, he added.
A total of 60 world-class crossers have confirmed their participation in the championship.
World-class crossers Antonio Cairoli and Tim Gaiser, and world-class free stylers from Belgium, South Africa and Canada will be among the registering crossers, he added.
