KIEV, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have reached a number of agreements regarding defense cooperation during their meeting in Toronto, said the press service of the Ukrainian president on Wednesday.

"I think we can frankly say it: we have agreed on the supply of armored vehicles and the development of cooperation in this area," said Zelensky during the press conference after the meeting.

Trudeau confirmed the intention to support Ukraine in the defense sphere, adding that they also added Ukraine to the list for the purchase of Canadian weapons.

In January, Ukraine's Ambassador to Canada Andriy Shevchenko said that Ukraine expects to receive long-range sniper rifles from Canada this year.

In December 2017, Canada added Ukraine to its automatic firearms country control list, thus allowing weapons exporter.

Ukrainian and Canadian leaders met in Toronto on Tuesday during Zelensky's first visit to North America where he will take part in the third Ukraine Reform Conference, a major international conference on Ukraine's future hosted by Canada on July 2-4.
