ANKARA, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday discussed Libya situation and bilateral relations with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin by phone.
During the phone conversation, Erdogan conveyed condolences for 14 Russian crew members who were killed in a fire on a nuclear-powered submarine in the Barents Sea on Monday, Turkey's Presidential Communications Directorate said in a statement.
On Friday, Erdogan met with the head of Libya's Government of National Accord (GNA) Fayez al-Sarraj in Istanbul, and reaffirmed his support for the Tripoli government.
He also called for an end to attacks by the militia loyal to Libyan commander Khalifa Haftar from eastern Libya.
Earlier this month, Haftar issued orders to target Turkish vessels in Libyan waters and cancel all flights between Libya and Turkey, accusing Ankara of providing military support for the government forces and helping them take over the city of Gharyan last week from the army.
Last week, Haftar's forces detained six Turkish sailors.
