MOSCOW, July 7 (Xinhua) -- At least four people were killed and 11 others injured after a tanker truck caught fire and exploded in Russia's Sverdlovsk Region, the TASS news agency reported on Sunday.
The truck swerved off the road into a ditch due to a brake failure, Alexander Ustinov, the administrative head of the nearby city of Krasnoturinsk was quoted as saying.
The chief spokesperson for the Interior Ministry's Sverdlovsk branch, Valery Gorelykh, said earlier on Sunday that three people were killed and seven were injured in the accident, according to preliminary information.
The drunk driver of the truck loaded with about 4.5 tonnes of fuel permitted some seven local travelers to climb onto the top of the tanker, and he then lost control of the vehicle, Gorelykh said.
