OSLO, July 8 (Xinhua) -- A man in Norway was charged for streaming online sexual offense against children in the Philippines, public broadcaster NRK reported on Monday.
According to the report, the man in northern Norway's Troms county transferred hundreds of thousands of kroner to people in the Philippines to get them to commit the abuses, following his instructions.
The man was arrested in February last year and has been in custody until April this year.
Police attorney Linn Rognli Hansen said the Norwegian man had been involved in the abuses since 2013.
Investigation and cooperation between Norwegian and Philippine police led the latter to save one of the children from further abuse and arrest a man and a woman in Taguig City, NRK reported.
Hansen confirmed that a five-year-old girl was saved.
She said an abuse in the Philippines costs between 200 and 400 kroner and abuse via live stream is a phenomenon that is more widespread than assumed.
The defendant's lawyer Olav Eriksen told NRK that his client did not acknowledge criminal liability under the charge. (1 U.S. dollar = 8.55 Norwegian kroner)
