LONDON, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Eight-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer, who takes to the court in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, is looking to grab his 99th win at the All England Club, which may lead to a semifinal against his longtime friend and rival Rafael Nadal.
The potential match-up would be their 40th, but only the first at the All England Club since the famous 2008 men's singles final, when Nadal overcame Federer in an epic five-set encounter.
In order for the two to duel once again at Wimbledon, Federer has to defeat No. 8 seed Kei Nishikori of Japan, while two-time Wimbledon champion Nadal must defeat 2017 semifinalist Sam Querrey of the United States, the only unseeded player in the last eight.
Wednesday's quarterfinals will also see four-time defending champion Novak Djokovic of Serbia face off with David Goffin of Belgium, and Argentina's Guido Pella take on Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain.
