HANOI, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam gained 411 million U.S. dollars from exporting gemstones, precious metals and jewelry in the first half of this year, posting a year-on-year rise of 41 percent, according to its Ministry of Industry and Trade on Wednesday.
Last month alone, the country reaped 150 million U.S. dollars from selling overseas gemstones, mainly ruby and sapphire, precious metals and jewelry, up 186.2 percent against June 2018.
Vietnam's gemstone, precious metal and jewelry export stood at 627.4 million U.S. dollars in 2018, with the United States being the biggest market with a turnover of nearly 393.4 million U.S. dollars, followed by Japan with 61.6 million U.S. dollars, and China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region with 30.8 million U.S. dollars, said the ministry's Industry and Trade Information Center.
