Young Indonesian sprinters eye gold at 2019 ASEAN School Games

JAKARTA, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian twin sprinters Adith Rico Pradana and Adith Rici Pradana are hopeful about their chances to secure a gold medal in the men's 100 meter sprint at the 2019 ASEAN School Games in the country next week.

The 11th ASEAN School Games are scheduled to be held from July 17 to 25 in Indonesia's Semarang city, Central Java province.

"We are upbeat about our chances to get a gold medal, because we have been training hard since the beginning of this year," Rico said.

The two Indonesian young sprinters also vowed to break their own record of 10.57 for Rico and 10.85 for Rici.

Indonesia plans to deploy 183 athletes, 38 coaches, nine managers and 20 officials to the regional sport event, according to the country's youth and sport ministry.

With the strength of contingent, Indonesian Youth and Sport Minister Imam Nahrawi said that host Indonesia looks set to dominate the Games.

The Games are set to feature nine sports: athletics, badminton, lawn tennis, basketball, table tennis, volleyball, swimming, sepak takraw and the Indonesian martial art pencak silat.
